Personal secret to success: First: Put others before yourself and try to help clients find what best fits their needs. Secondly: Be the product expert in your field. Customers come to us agents to help them make sense of insurance. Knowing and understanding the products you represent will grow clients' trust in you, and they'll know you're the one to contact when they have insurance questions!

What tips would you offer a new broker interested in selling Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans? I believe it is important as a broker to understand and know how to help clients determine their eligibility to enroll in a Marketplace plan, how the health insurance subsidy program works in relationship to premium and taxes, as well as how the Marketplace operates, both in terms of enrollment and changes. It's also important to have a good understanding of the plans you sell and to be able to break it down into a presentation your client can understand. Finally, I would encourage a new broker to stay up to date on ACA compliance and regulations, as this changes year to year.

What do you like best about Ambetter plans? The plans in our primary market offers an expansive hospital/physician network, which meets the needs of many of our clients. Ambetter's client portal is also easy to use and comprehensive - our clients love the member experience!

What Ambetter plan features resonate best with your clients? i.e.- My Health Pays program, rates, network, etc: Ambetter's doctor/physician network has been one of our client's most important factors, and Ambetter's plans has been able to meet many of our clients' needs. The My Health Pays program is definitely a huge incentive, too!

How do you generate new leads? We have a strong referral network of current clients and members of our business community, who refer new leads to us whom are looking for advice on their health insurance needs. We are also present in online advertising and communities, where we present our agents as a resource for health insurance questions and needs.

How do you ensure your clients make the binder payment? We encourage clients to complete their binder payment as soon as they select a plan, and we continue to follow-up with them if it continues to be delinquent.

What would you like to see more issuers do in the ACA market or add to the market for the next open enrollment season? It would be great to have more affordable plan options available to those who do not qualify for a subsidy.
