Don't Lose Clients Because of Tax Filing Complications
Date: 04/01/21
Know the right way for clients to file their return.
Be sure clients get the premium tax credit they deserve!
Clients who had a Marketplace health plan in 2020 received their 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace Statement in the mail by mid-February.*
Clients need to use their 1095-A to file Form 8962 with their tax return. If they don’t, they could lose their premium tax credit, resulting in higher premiums on their health plan. Don’t forget: the filing deadline for taxes is April 15!
It’s important for clients to use these two forms to file their taxes correctly and on time. These two forms determine the amount of their premium tax credit and record the credits they used to lower their health plan premiums. Both forms are required when clients are filing their taxes.
