What is Open Enrollment on the Marketplace?
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment period is the annual opportunity to sign up for coverage, renew, or change your Marketplace health insurance. For most people, this is the only time to get coverage unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
During ACA Open Enrollment, you can:
- Choose a new health insurance plan
- Update your current coverage
- Add or remove family members
This time matters for individuals and families alike. It lets you align your plan with life changes like growing your household or adjusting your budget.
If you’ve experienced a qualifying life event—such as job loss, a new baby or a move—you may be eligible for coverage outside of open enrollment.
