Help with Substance Use – Peer Recovery Support Services

Peer Recovery Support Services

Substance misuse is more common than you may think. Substance misuse includes the use of illegal drugs. But also incorrect use of legal substances. This includes alcohol and prescription medications. Each are harmful to your physical and mental health.

Recovery can be a long journey. It looks different for each person. Asking for help can be difficult or uncomfortable. Especially if you are not sure what help you want or need. Peer support is speaking to someone who has been through their own substance use recovery. Peer support is part of Ambetter Health member benefits. A peer recovery support specialist will listen to your story and work with you on next steps to help with your recovery. They can:

  • Advocate for your needs so you can achieve your goals of what recovery looks like to you.
  • Review the benefits available to you. They help you understand all your covered benefits as an Ambetter Health member. They can even help you find a provider or specialist who is right for you.
  • Identify resources in your community that support your goals and needs.

You are not alone. We are here to help. You can connect with a peer recovery support specialist by calling member services and asking for peer support. You can also speak to a mental health professional 24/7 by calling the Ambetter Health nurse advice line.
