What tips would you offer a new broker interested in selling Affordable Care Act plans? Understand how it works. Most brokers, especially new brokers don’t understand the ins and outs of insurance. Since you’re dealing with peoples’ lives and potentially the IRS, it’s important to know what you are doing.

What do you like the best about the Ambetter plans? The $0 premium plans have been awesome. Couple that with the free copays and free generics, and you have yourself a real winner.

What features of the Ambetter product offering best resonate with most with your clients, our My Health Pays Program, our rates, our network? Something else? The rates are very low this year. Number one is the rates. Number two is probably the low deductibles. Customers don’t mind paying a small copay on services. 

How do you generate new leads? We have a huge book of business, so most are referrals. We do get a lot of leads from our website and from other online sources.

How do you ensure your clients make their binder payment? We gather payment up [front] on almost every client. We don’t usually let them pay it themselves.

Better is: Putting forth your best effort even when you are exhausted. Taking care of the customer with every need they have.
