Creditable Coverage Notices for Prescription Drug Coverage

The Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) requires issuers whose policies include prescription drug coverage, to notify their Medicare eligible policyholders whether their prescription drug coverage is Creditable Coverage. Creditable Coverage means that the coverage is expected to pay on average as much as the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage.

Your clients that are, or soon will be eligible for Medicare benefits will be receiving their Notice of Creditable Coverage for prescription medications as required by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This notice states that your clients current Ambetter plan includes Creditable Coverage for their prescription medications, meaning that the drug benefit is expected to cover, on average, as much as the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage.

It’s important that your clients keep this notice as they may be required to provide a copy if they decide to join a Medicare drug plan when they are eligible.
