Did you know?

If you're enrolled in Ambetter Health or another Marketplace plan, you don't need to be enrolled in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) as well? If you qualify for either of these options, review your enrollment. Make sure you're only signed up for the plan that best fits your needs.

If you are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP and Marketplace, you may lose your financial help. This means you'll have to pay full price for your Marketplace premiums or out-of-pocket costs. You may also have to repay some or all of your premium tax credit when you file your taxes.

Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are public health coverage programs. If you're eligible for either, you no longer qualify for financial help with your Marketplace plan. Learn more at HealthCare.gov or visit your state’s health insurance exchange if you live in Kentucky, New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania or Washington.

Act Now

If you received a notice from Ambetter Health about your coverage or if you think you may be enrolled in both a Marketplace plan and Medicaid or CHIP, call us now to update your coverage.

Call Ambetter Health at 1-844-428-3431 (TTY: 711) to take action today.

Avoid Extra Costs

Enrolling in Medicaid or CHIP doesn't mean your Marketplace plan gets canceled. You need to take action to avoid extra costs. Contact Ambetter Health as soon as possible to review your coverage.

What to do based on your coverage:

  • If everyone in your household is now covered by CHIP or Medicaid:
End your Marketplace coverage or discuss the possibility of keeping it at full cost.
  • If some of your household members have CHIP or Medicaid:
Update your Marketplace application to recalculate your plan. Other members can still use a Marketplace plan with savings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't take any action?

The Marketplace will end any savings for the members who are now covered by CHIP or Medicaid. They will stay enrolled in their Marketplace plan at full cost.

Can I keep my Marketplace coverage, and Medicaid or CHIP?

You can choose to keep your Marketplace plan at full cost. In some cases, this may make you ineligible for CHIP. Be sure to let your state Medicaid or CHIP agency know if you decide to keep both plans.

What if I get limited-benefit Medicaid coverage?

If your Medicaid plan only covers certain services, you can keep your Marketplace plan. You may still qualify for savings like premium tax credits. This is based on your income and other factors. For help, call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325).
