Can You Get Health Insurance Today?

Open Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace is closed. If you recently had a Qualifying Life Event, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment period. This means you can enroll in or change your health insurance plan outside the open enrollment period. Most special enrollment periods last 60 days from the date of the qualifying life event.

You may qualify to enroll in coverage now if:

You have lost your health coverage (for example due to a job loss, divorce, loss of eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP, expiration of COBRA coverage, or a health plan being decertified).

It's important to know your health insurance options. In many cases, a plan from the Health Insurance Marketplace is more affordable. Learn More.

Note: Voluntarily quitting other health coverage or being terminated for not paying your premiums are not considered loss of coverage. Losing coverage that is not minimum essential coverage is also not considered loss of coverage.

You recently moved to a new zip code, county or state.

You were recently married.

Having, adopting, or placement of a child.

Changes to citizenship or immigration status.

Release from incarceration.
