Health Care Help for Members Affected by Hurricane Helene

Ambetter of North Carolina members located in the counties of Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yancey, Cherokee, Graham and Swain which were affected by Hurricane Helene, please know there are services available to help you. 

Effective September 30, 2024, Ambetter Health is suspending policy cancellations and non-renewals for 30 days due to unpaid premiums for members residing in any of the impacted counties. 

We also want to make sure you can still get your medicines and health care during this time.

Here’s how we can help:

Replace Medicines, Medical Equipment, or ID Cards

If you lost your medicine, medical equipment, or Member ID card because of Hurricane Helene, we can help you get replacements. Call Member Services at 1-833-863-1310 (Relay 711), Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST for fast help. Your member ID cards are also available through your online member account, the Ambetter Health mobile app, or through your broker.

Temporarily Pause Ambetter Health Mailings

Ambetter Health will temporarily suspend mailing communications to members in counties affected by the hurricane until October 31, 2024. For more information, please contact Member Services at  1-833-863-1310 (Relay 711). 

Get Nurse Advice or Crisis Help Anytime

We know storms can be stressful. Our Nurse Advice and Crisis Line is available 24/7, and it's FREE. You can call 1-833-863-1310 (Relay 711) anytime, day or night for help with:

  • Medical questions or finding urgent care.
  • Crisis support or help finding mental health care.

Getting Non-Emergency Care

We know that health care providers in your area may also be affected by the storm. During the recovery period, getting care in your doctor’s office may not be an option.
