Ambetter from Home State Health and KaBOOM! Put Kids First by Increasing Opportunities to Play in the Ferguson-Florissant School District
Date: 05/06/19
200 Community Volunteers Unite to Build a New Playground at Central Elementary School
Volunteers from Ambetter from Home State Health, Centene Corporation, the Ferguson-Florissant School District and the community will join KaBOOM! on Friday, May 10, to transform an outdated playground into a kid-designed, state-of-the-art play space in just six hours. The new playground will be built at Central Elementary School, located at 201 Wesley Ave, and will help make play the easy choice for kids and families in Ferguson, MO.
Currently, Central Elementary School’s playground equipment is not accommodating to all children. The new playground design will address an urgent need by providing a broader range of play for children of all ages. In March, kids from the surrounding community came together to draw their dream playground. The new playground, which is based off their drawings, adheres to Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines, and will provide more than 300 children who attend Central Elementary School, as well as other kids and families in the community, with a great, safe place to play.
This playground is part of a broader effort led by Ambetter – part of the Centene family – and KaBOOM! to ensure communities have great PLAYces for kids and families. It will be the second playground build by Ambetter. Through this partnership, KaBOOM! and Ambetter from Home State Health are creating an oasis where kids feel valued and loved, and where their potential is supported, nurtured and celebrated.
