Have you ordered your free COVID-19 at-home testing kits? Don’t miss out!
Date: 11/22/23
The fall and winter months are a time for family gatherings and holiday celebrations. But it's also a time when COVID-19 cases tend to rise. If you experience symptoms commonly caused by COVID, it's important that you get tested. Then you’ll know if you need to take steps to protect your loved ones and others from getting sick too.
To help reduce the spread of COVID, the federal government is again offering four free COVID-19 at-home testing kits to all U.S. households. Order them now so if you or someone in your house starts feeling sick, you can quickly and easily test for COVID-19 without leaving home.
How to order your four free COVID tests
Order online:
- Go to COVIDTests.gov and click the “order free at-home tests” button. This will take you the U.S. Postal Service website.
- On the U.S. Postal Service site, fill out your contact information and your shipping address. Then, click “check out now.”
- A pop-up box will appear. Double check that your information is correct, then click “place my order.”
- If you entered an email address on the form, you will receive an email confirming your order. You will also receive a second email once your order has shipped. Tests will be shipped through the U.S. Postal Service.
Order by phone: You can call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY: 1-888-720-7489) for assistance.
Remember these tips to avoid a scam
- Order your free tests only through COVIDTests.gov or by calling the phone number above.
- You don’t have to pay for shipping.
- You’ll never be asked for a credit card or bank account number.
- You only need to give a name and shipping address.
- No one from the federal government will call, text, or email you to ask for your information to “help” you order free kits. These communications are fake — do not respond to them.
- Don’t give out your credit card, bank account, or Social Security number.
Why it’s important to order your free tests now
These tests will detect the current COVID-19 variants. They can be used through the end of 2023, and will include instructions on how to check extended expiration dates. Many kits have had their expiration dates extended beyond what may be printed on the kit.
There are a few reasons why it's important to get tested for COVID-19 during the fall and winter months. First, the colder weather can make your immune system weaker, putting you more at risk for infection. Second, people are more likely to gather indoors, which can increase the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Getting tested for COVID-19 can help you identify and isolate early if you do become infected. This can help to prevent you from spreading the virus to others and protect your loved ones.
