Availity Essentials Transition Update: Track the status of authorization requests, view real-time updates, and upload clinical documentation for concurrent review
Date: 06/03/26
To make it easier to work with us, Meridian and our family of plans is continuing the transition to Availity Essentials™ as our exclusive secure provider portal. If you are already working in Availity Essentials, you can log in to your existing account to access these benefits. If you are new to Availity, review this guide to register and get started.
What’s new?
- In addition to supporting prior authorization (PA) submissions and corrections, Availity now allows providers to view real-time updates on the status of PA requests in one secure place—regardless of how the PA was originally submitted (phone, fax, or the Meridian secure provider portal)
- Access Availity’s Authorization/Referral Inquiry tool to quickly search
- Pin authorizations to Availity’s Authorization/Referral Dashboard for easy tracking
- If a PA was submitted through Availity, it is automatically pinned to your dashboard
- See the current status for all authorizations pinned to your dashboard—no need to run another inquiry
- The new Concurrent Review/Continued Stay feature lets you upload additional clinical documentation directly in Availity to support inpatient authorizations. Users must have the Authorization & Referral Request role and the Authorization & Referral Inquiry role. Contact your organization’s Availity administrator to request access.
- For help with this new feature:
- Access Availity’s Provider Help Center for Concurrent Review/Continued Stay navigation instructions. Select the Authorization/Referral Inquiry link in the Authorization & Referral help topic
Learn more in the Availity Learning Center, and follow the prompts to access health plan-specific on-demand authorization training.
Does your organization’s Availity administrator need help adding users?
