GLP-1 medications are commonly prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes. While these drugs have also shown effectiveness in supporting weight loss, it’s important to understand that Ambetter does not currently cover GLP-1s when prescribed solely for weight management.

If you choose to take a GLP-1 medication for weight loss, and it is not covered by your plan, you may be responsible for the full cost out of pocket. These medications can be expensive, so we encourage you to review your coverage details and speak with your healthcare provider about alternative options.
